My Story
Parent coaching has been a natural fit for me as it has allowed me to meld what I loved most about my professional career with my personal experience as a parent. When I worked as a school psychologist my absolute favorite part of the job was talking with parents. I loved learning about them, their children and their family dynamic, and I loved working with them to understand their circumstances and to develop ways in which they could move forward given their current challenges.
Now, as a parent of two teenagers, I appreciate first-hand the wonderful chaos and struggles that go along with parenting. Sorting through the overwhelming “noise” in order to let go of the “shoulds” of parenting and gain the confidence to chart your own course as a parent-one that aligns with your values and beliefs can be a daunting undertaking. I know from experience that having a trusted someone to support and encourage you, to listen to you and provide a sounding board can make the navigation of that task much easier.
Ironically, our current 24/7, constantly “plugged-in” culture, while giving the illusion of connection, has actually made it much harder to create the kind of genuine and trusting relationship that is so vital to helping one grow and thrive as an individual and as a parent.
As a parent coach I am keenly invested in working with parents to create an authentic and supportive connection with me and within themselves so they can learn to relax, trust their instincts, and gain confidence as parents.
